Focusing: Clicking

While filters can always be used to narrow down what is presented on a page, you can also do this by clicking on a specific item. This can be done with anything on the page. The first visual below (1) shows the page without any focusing. In the second visual (2) Business Tax has been selected in the bottom visual. You can see the other lines in that visual are grayed out, and the rest of the page has adjusted to only show Business Tax information. To undo this, just click on that item again.

Focusing: Focus Mode

To focus on a single visual, use focus mode. Click on the visual you would like to focus on, and you will see a rectangle with an arrow pointing out of the top right corner (3). Click on that, and it will take you to a page with only that visual on it, expanded so you can see more details.

While in Focus Mode, you can click on the three dots in the top right corner (4), where you will see a few useful tools. They include:

  1. Show as a table (5) shows you the data that makes up your visual

  1. Export data (6) allows you to export the visual’s data to excel

  1. Sort axis (7) will allow you to sort the visual by any field

To leave Focus Mode, click Back to Report (8) in the top left corner.

Focusing: Spotlight

If you are presenting a report and want your audience to focus in on the visual you are discussing, a great way to do that is using Spotlight. Access Spotlight by clicking on the three dots in the top right corner of the visual

(9) and then click Spotlight (10). The other visuals on the page will blur out, leaving your primary visual in the spotlight (11).

Focusing: Tooltips

One final way to focus in on specific data is Tooltips. In most visuals, if you hover your mouse over a data point a Tooltip box (12) will appear, showing you additional details about that point.
