Revenue per FTE

Purpose
Revenue per FTE (Full Time Equivalent) allows users to get a clear line of sight on company and department performance, showing the full impact of metrics such as productivity, realization, and effective rate. The goal is to show how much money is being brought in per FTE. It can also be used to benchmark your firm against your peers or help drive decisions.

Navigation

To navigate to Revenue per FTE, select Management (1) from the list of pages on the left side of your screen. Once you are in the Management section you can use the buttons along the bottom (2) to switch between management-focused dashboards and choose Revenue per FTE.

Visuals

The Detail visual at the top (3) of the dashboard displays Revenue per FTE by Staff Department, with the ability to expand the hierarchy and see individual employees. Revenue per FTE is calculated by:

  1. Calculating worked hours (Total Hours w/o PTO (4)). Worked hours exclude time off. We will be working with you to determine which service codes/activities are characterized as time off and should therefore be excluded.
  2. Dividing the worked hours by the possible working hours, depending on the date range, to determine the number of FTEs in the departments/your firm (5).
  3. Dividing the Billed Net amount by the number of FTEs to determine Revenue per FTE (6).

The Detail visual also will specifically call out Revenue per Partner (7). We will work with you to determine which staff positions are characterized as Partners and should therefore be included in this metric.

The Year-Over-Year Staff Department visual on the bottom (8) displays each department’s Revenue per FTE for the current and prior year. The dotted orange trendline is intended to be a target value, and is controlled by the Target Value slicer on the left side of the page (9).
