Purpose

The purpose of the Projects report is to show details on project and employee performance, allowing for the analysis of project profitability and employee realization.

Navigation

To navigate to the Projects report, select Projects (1) from the list of pages on the left side of your screen. Once you are in the Projects page, you can use the buttons along the bottom (2) to switch between project- focused reports. Projects is the first of these buttons.

Cards

There are two cards (3) at the top of the report. They show the total number of projects displayed in the report and how many of those projects are active.

Filters

The filters can always be found on the left side of your screen (4). Filters will vary by firm, so yours may not match exactly what is shown in this demo.

Visuals

Actual vs Budgeted Hours and Amount by Client (5): shows a budget to actual analysis on a project-by-project basis. Clients are listed on the left, and clicking on a client name will expand it to show the types of projects done for the client. Expanding that level will show the specific projects. For example if multiple years are selected in the date range, tax return may be the type of project shown under a client. Expanding that level would show a line for each year’s tax return. The first variance analysis section focuses on hours, showing the actual and budgeted hours. The variance column will be red if the project is overbudget on hours, and green if it is underbudget. Following the hours analysis is the dollars analysis. This variance column will be green if the project is overbudget on dollars billed, because more was billed for the project than budgeted. It will be red if the project is underbudget on dollars billed. The last two columns show the cost and effective rate of the project.

Employee Details (6): shows the realization details by employee.

Active Projects by Type (7): shows a breakdown of the active projects by the type of project.
